I really enjoyed this article. It's also great to see that someone was inspired by Isa Moskowitz and then had such a clear vision about how meat and cheese are really harmful to just about every living thing on the planet at age 15. Hopefully the benefits and joys of veganism comes much more into focus in 2013!

The all-vegan, eco-conscious, Canadian accessory company puts a love of animals and the planet on par with a love of smart and sleek design. The companies mantra, live beautifully, is the distillation of their vision to create beautiful things that can have a positive world impact. In addition to their commitment to a product that is completely cruelty-free, they are also dedicated to using recycled and upcycled materials in their designs, (the bag linings are made exclusively from recycled pop bottles and there are top secret plans in the works to use upcycled bike tires).
I was at the premiere in Toronto and it was not only such a moving, graceful film but also so wonderful to be in a room full of people who care about animals and want to help them.

Huge kudos to Liz and Jo-Anne for their work and for sharing it in such a wonderful, accessible way.

People are afraid to change. They are afraid to show compassion because it will alter their routine or make them seem week. They are afraid of being ridiculed and ostracized by friends and family. We are afraid of the world we have created...and with good reason.

Hi Darcie and thanks for your comment! We understand and share your concerns about mass manufacturing and the ethical treatment of workers. We employ small factories in Asia with which we have long-standing relationships and in an effort to ensure fairness and transparency, we are looking into a few different certifications guaranteeing the welfare of employees . One of these certifications is the SA8000, an auditable standard that encourages organizations to develop, maintain, and apply socially acceptable practices in the workplace. Stay tuned for more news on this in the future.

You may relate to Fine Dining through a movie scene, such as in "Pretty Woman" where Julia Roberts requires tutoring before dining out with Richard Gere and his business associates. Most everyone remembers their first experience at an upscale restaurant. This scene embodies all of the situations a novice diner may encounter. Many have lived to tell an amusing story, just as in this film.,,

"what else can we do to ensure that all of our externalities from design/concept to delivery are positive ones? A lot. "

Global sourcing has been one of the biggest influences in the past few decades, and offshore manufacturing has helped fund the development of countries like India, China and Japan. This kind of apparel production is less expensive, and capable of producing in mass volume, and generally a good thing for bot businesses and consumers. However, tragedies can occur, such as in the recent Bangladesh factory collapse, and working conditions are often less than ideal. I'm wondering what kind of measures your company takes to ensure the factories used to manufacture Matt & Nat are ethically sound?
