The making of our photoshoot for our exclusive Apple line.

November 28, 2012 in Our office, Uncategorized

Just in time for the Holidays, we launched our exclusive Apple UK & US line. We had quite the fun photoshoot with our lovely photographer April. Collaborating , playing with lighting, angles & bouncing ideas off of one another, we  got our creative juices flowin’. So much so that we punctured a hole in our backdrop… we got pretty creative to say the least! Here are a few behind the scene snap shots from the shoot.

13″ Motto Bag for MacBook Pro

After a fun photoshoot with our Photographer April, and the launch of our exclusive collection for Apple, we had a busy week! We are all so pleased at how this line came together this season. The pop of color & varied styles make us happy to introduce the exclusive line this holiday season! It brings us great pleasure to work alongside like-minded individuals such as the Apple team. Though our company is MUCH smaller than Apple, we are humbled by the great opportunity this gives us. We continue to push forth in the market, all whilst being environmentally friendly. In every bag 21 plastic bottles are recycled & our labeling is made from recycled cork. Our Apple line consists of 4 styles this season.

Motto : In our signature Vintage material in cognac. Closed with a nylon zipper, the bag features a padded compartment for a 13-inch MacBook, and a separate, protective compartment for an iPad or 11-inch MacBook Air.

Creed : In our signature Vintage material in black & cognac. The Creed briefcase is made out of 100% recycled plastic bags. Closed with a nylon zipper, the bag features a padded compartment for a 13-inch MacBook, and a separate, protective slit compartment for an iPad, and an easy-access large pocket in the front.

Dean : In our signature DWELL in red & black. Our favorite bag this season, made perfect sense for us to offer it in the exclusive apple collection. It’s durable, comfortable & practical to keep everything nestled safe whilst you carry your laptop. Wear the dean in RED to pop out of the crowd!

FYI : In our signature DWELL in red & black. Our FYI padded laptop bag is perfect to secure that no wear or tear happens to your laptop! You can style it up or down for a business meeting, running around the city or at work. Its adjustable shoulder strap, two separate zippered compartments, front compartment padded for a 13” laptop and front slit pocket with mag snag closure makes this laptop bag one you don’t want to mess with!

That’s our week recap for now!

Have a lovely weekend everyone : )

Robin & Vegetarian shoes : A post by Inder

November 16, 2012 in Uncategorized

I met Robin Webb back in 1995 when I decided I would attempt to take MATT & NAT from university project/business plan to reality. En route to India I stopped off in Brighton, a beautiful seaside town in the UK. When asking for directions I was told by a local to look for edible shoes made from lettuce wraps, when I saw the sign, I knew I was at my destination :)

Robin changed the vegan fashion world when he founded VEGETARIAN SHOES back in 1991. I can’t think of another vegan footwear brand that has been around as long, it may even be the first vegan brand in the universe ! The products are indestructible, below are the airseals, I’m the proud owner of 3 styles.

Over the last couple of years a lot of vegan brands have come and gone. It’s nice to see that VEGETARIAN SHOES have remained true to form, 20 years later nothing compares to their timelessness and durability. Low key and timeless, much like Robin himself, they’re the kind of styles that you start to like and end up loving :)

In North America best place to buy them is at mooshoes, they also sell on their site in Europe

Crazy Sexy Kitchen : Kris Carr’s new book!

November 12, 2012 in Food, Uncategorized

Kris Carr, New York Times best-selling author, wellness activist and cancer thriver recently released her new book “Crazy Sexy Kitchen”. Her inspiring story of regaining her life after being diagnosed with a rare, incurable stage 4 cancer is worth every page.

Here is  how she was able to change her lifestyle.

How did your wake-up call encourage you to make a lifestyle change?

It taught me how to listen to my brilliant inner guide, brought me back to nature (my church), the garden and kitchen (my pharmacies), and connected me more deeply with the people and animals who set my heart ablaze. I learned that a nutrient dense, plant-passionate diet rules, the Standard American Diet destroys (everything), stress sucks (all life-force), exercise is non-negotiable (great for your head, heart, cells and ass-ets), joy is utterly contagious, and having fun must be taken very seriously.

What I learned transformed my life forever – now it can transform yours. My journey has ignited a global wellness revolution that’s resonated with thousands of health, spiritual wealth and happiness seekers. CanSer babes and “Prevention is HOT” cheerleaders alike have flocked to my books and lectures to learn how to look and feel better, lose weight, reduce stress and suffering, have more energy and nourish their spirits – even Oprah got excited about the Crazy Sexy revolution.

How does Crazy Sexy Kitchen set itself apart from other recipe books?

Crazy Sexy Kitchen gives you the education, recipes and know-how needed to adopt a joyful and vibrant Crazy Sexy Diet and Lifestyle. This jaw dropping-ly delicious veggie manifesto for gourmands and novices alike is filled with inspiration, education, and cooking tips—plus more than 150 nourishing, nosh-worthy recipes. Whether you’re a newbie cook or a fancy cheffy, a vegan or an omnivore, a jet-setter or a hot mama, this book will change your life.

This book is a great read for everyone who’s thinking about changing their lifestyle & eating patterns. The hardest part is starting, but once you give yourself the push, you’ll never look back! Empowerment is the best satisfaction. Regain yourself & your life. Take charge, feel good, be beautiful inside & out!

Happy Monday everyone : )

Calgary and the Paris of the Prairies: Saskatoon!

November 2, 2012 in Events, Travel

Last week I got my first glimpse of snow when I landed in Calgary and I have to admit, it was kind of refreshing ! I love the heat and humidity probably more than most people so this summer in Montreal was a real treat. However, I totally appreciate being able to experience all 4 seasons and don’t know if I’m ready to trade that in yet…..

My highlight of Calgary (besides our blowout event at Twisted Goods of course!) was having lunch at the coup downtown (missed the weekend waffles, damn!). Surrounded by skater shops and cute boutiques such as Kricket’s in the Mission (spent an hour reading their fridge magnets), it was a hood that I had no problem schlepping around in the snow….

I had no idea what to expect when arriving in Saskatoon at 1 am. Started the next morning with a nice little tour along the South Saskatchewan River with Danny Mysak, the genius behind Spare Parts. I forgot how nice it is to be in a small city where there is still pristine real estate along the river and the skyline is not filled with skyscrapers. I remarked to Danny about the bridges along the river reminding me of Paris. I guess The Tragically Hip’s Gord Downie may have been on to something when he famously referred to Saskatoon as the “Paris of the Prairies.” In 2010, Saskatoon emerged as a leading centre of culture and learning. It does get pretty cold but all the reason to be more snuggly, Saskatoon is considered one of the most romantic cities in Canada, ooh la la!

Our tour ended at the spanking new Spare Parts Offices in downtown, always nice to witness an area that’s on the brink of becoming something much more….

Our evening event at SP saw the biggest  turnout we’ve ever seen and was filled with vegan sushi, cupcakes and DJ Gaff, mmmmm, vegan cupcakes……

Seems like Saskatoon is on the move….new airport coming up, shortage of cabs (even at 4.45 am!), sold out hotels and a whole bunch of young folks coming back home after having gone away to the ‘big’ cities. Looking forward to seeing even more of her next time around !
